On Main Street, in Jefferson, you'll find a wide array of community events throughout the year, including Concerts on the town Square, the Jefferson Farmer's Market and of course the annual Christmas Parade! Downtown you'll also find local shops and restaurants. Jefferson is home of the Crawford W. Long Museum, which highlights the life and medical career of Dr. Long, who was the first to use ether as anesthesia in 1842. Jefferson is also home to the historic Jackson County Courthouse and the Jefferson Memorial Stadium, home to the Jefferson Dragons!

Jackson County Schools

The Jackson County School System serves approximately 8,500 students in six elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. In addition, Empower College & Career Center is under development and is expected to open summer of 2021.
