Over 18,000 residents call the small Gwinnett County city of Snellville home. Situated 30 minutes to the east of Atlanta, and a little over 10 miles past Stone Mountain, Snellville is a progressive community that has defied the economic downturn of the "great recession" of 2008.
To serve its continuous growth, Snellville has embarked on an ambitious plan to create a new Town Center, which will include a new town green and shopping district. New neighborhoods have been incorporated into the vision, along with tunnels and bridges to create a more walk-able city, where "community and commerce meet".
Norcross is a small city in Gwinnett County, about 20 miles to the northeast of Atlanta. Its population of about 10,000 residents enjoys the small town atmosphere with an active lifestyle, propelled by the dramatic growth that came to Atlanta during the last two decades.
Today, Norcross is again a thriving community with its charm as a nineteenth century railroad town beautifully preserved. Classic Southern antebellum mansions and Victorian homes are showcased, as well as lovingly restored Craftsman style residences. The old brick buildings of downtown still constitute the hub of the community.
The City of Lawrenceville is the seat of government for Gwinnett County. Incorporated in 1821, it is the second oldest city in the Metro Atlanta area. Located 32 miles to the northeast of Atlanta, this city of 28,000 is rich in history and small town beauty. It was formerly the most populous municipality in Gwinnett County, until the July 2012 incorporation of new city of Peachtree Corners.
Lawrenceville embarked on an ambitious downtown revitalization in 2005, which resulted in a successful preservation of period buildings and landmarks. Its rich past is most clearly seen today in its old town square, whose site was chosen originally for its proximity to several nearby springs. The historic Gwinnett Courthouse, circa 1885, is the centerpiece, accompanied by various other significant downtown buildings, including the Lawrenceville Female Seminary. Lawrenceville also supports the performing arts with the Aurora Theatre.
